“CAAR Board Member Claire Oberon Garcia will be moderating a roundtable on Black Intellectual Labor and Self Care at the African American Intellectual History Society’s conference at the end of March. Her reflections in this AAIHS blogpost, while aimed at black scholars working in the US, might be of interest to CAAR members all over the world who are engaged both professionally and personally with issues of race and social justice. Anti-immigrant rhetoric, racisme décomplexé throughout Europe, a rebirth of culturally imperialist rhetoric and a “populist” suspicion of intellectuals is affecting scholars and students with transnational sensibilities in many different countries.  We welcome your comments!
