What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected and How is it Used

Generally, we use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts to you; to answer your requests; to process your donations; etc. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all communication from us. We may also use your information to track visitors of our website. This lets us see which of our website components are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally) to outside parties.

Individuals that sign up to receive CAAR e-communication through our Google Group member list and our e-mail Listserver voluntarily provide us with contact information such as name and e-mail address. We may use this information for specific, limited purposes. You may always “opt-out,” either now or at any time in the future, if you do not wish to receive our messages.

The CAAR website administrators may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer https://www.caar-web.org/ and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic. https://www.caar-web.org/ is based on a WordPress template and uses relevant plugins and cookies to interact with your computer. You can reject the use of cookies and/or erase cookies already placed on your computer by reconfiguring your Web browser accordingly.

Some features of the website require the creation of an account with username and password. This information and the user’s e-mail address are stored in the website database. Additionally, members who pay their membership fees and their conference registration fees through our PayPal link will share personal information such as postal addresses, e-mail addresses, and credit card numbers with PayPal. The website has embedded social media feeds that may capture and store user data on third-party servers. This information is collected for the purpose of facilitating CAAR’s services for members and is necessary for the purposes of legitimate interests and/or the performance of a contract.
